Description
The Small Engine Repair course is a 6-day program designed to provide participants with practical knowledge and hands-on skills essential for maintaining and repairing small engines commonly used in northern communities. The course focuses on understanding how small engines operate and how to troubleshoot and fix common issues with equipment such as two-stroke and four-stroke engines powering skidoos, ATV's, and boat motors.
Participants will learn core mechanical principles related to small engine function, including combustion, fuel and air systems, ignition, lubrication, and cooling systems. Emphasis will also be placed on routine maintenance practices, proper tool usage, and diagnosing mechanical problems efficiently.
Basic measurements, engine specifications, and diagnostic techniques will also be covered to ensure participants are confident in their skills. Instruction is provided by a certified Red Seal mechanic with experience teaching in remote and northern communities. The course combines theory with hands-on learning, giving participants direct experience with engines and equipment to build transferable skills.
